- WEATHER/TORNADO WARNING
- The city will sound the warning siren prior to
severe weather or when a tornado warning is in effect.
Tune radio to find latest weather updates.
- Manager or authorized personnel will verify the
situation if weather does not appear to be threatening
and will notify all personnel.
- When the sirens sound during severe weather, or when
notified by authorized personnel, all staff should assist
in evacuating all personnel and building occupants to the
bathrooms (the most secure interior rooms). It is
important to keep people away from windows and the danger
of shattered glass.
- Anyone trying to leave the building should be warned
of the danger by authorized personnel and encouraged not
to leave until after danger has passed.
- In case of injury, follow medical emergency procedures (below).
- If a fire results, follow fire procedures (below)
- Personnel may return to the work areas upon clearance
by the manager or authorized personnel. Since storms are
normally of a short duration, it is each employee’s
responsibility to return to work in a timely fashion at
the end of the weather emergency.
- FIRE ALARM
- Upon hearing alarm, authorized personnel should check
alarm panel for origin of alarm. If necessary, personnel
should begin to evacuate the building by the nearest exit.
Both UCDHSC Police and Aurora Fire Protection are
automatically alerted when the fire alarm is activated.
- RAIN/FLOODING
- Protect any library material threatened by leaks or
flooding. Plastic wrap is kept in the circulation
workroom. Notify PASCAL Manager if necessary.
- EMERGENCY EVACUATION
- When evacuation must occur for any other reason, the
manager or other authorized personnel will notify UCDHSC
Police. All staff should assist and follow instructions
in clearing building. Personnel should use the nearest
exit and meet across the street at the police station
- MEDICAL EMERGENCY
- Call UCDHSC Police (911). DO NOT MOVE AN UNCONSCIOUS
PERSON except when in immediate danger of fire, etc.
- PERSONAL EMERGENCY
- Obtain name of person's emergency contact from Health
Sciences Library administration office, get relevant
details and notify
- ASSAULTS AND ROBBERIES
- Notify UCDHSC Police at 911.
- DRUNKENNESS OR DISORDERLY CONDUCT
- Notify UCDHSC Police at 911.
- EARTHQUAKE
- If quake is felt, EVACUATE STACKS IMMEDIATELY!!
Evacuate building if possible or take cover under sturdy
furniture and cover head and neck. Stay away from
windows. Do not run through areas with falling debris.
Since aftershocks may occur, DO NOT RETURN TO WORK until
authorized by manager or other authorized personnel.
Give help if asked.
- EMERGENCY CONTACTS
